Legacy wireless networks in the past were driven by network access authentication being controlled by the network to specialized end user device. In fact the networks themselves were often run using private backbones composed of private wireline infrastructure connected to specialized wireless spectrum. The intent of this network design was to offer secured access to specific individual or groups. These legacy network infrastructures proved cumbersome when trying to interoperate their network infrastructures in emergency response applications. In addition, these network designs are expensive to operate and technologically incapable of handling the multitude of applications based on the distribution capabilities of services using Internet Protocol (IP) standards.
Aware of these network inefficiencies, ProjectSafety searched for wireless network design that could leverage the use for existing legacy assets while offering secure IP network application distribution and network sharing using a commercial off the shelf end user devices connecting to the wireless network edge. The MINE Encryprion model offered such a capability.by encrypting the network edge while allowing the unique advantage of cloaking vendor agnostic wireless infrastructures with invisible and impenetrable layer 2 edge network encryption. This design allows for the use of legacy networks while offering security cloaking of the legacy network infrastructure as they are being redesigned for more efficient IP network transport.
The MINE Emcryption model leverages wireless network edge encryption offering multiple network access and application sharing. This methodology allows for the secure interoperable network sharing through predetermined encrypted controller access to rule based applications. By leveraging the network edge as the network and application controller, multiple networks and network applications can be securely accessed using rules based encryption and authentication. Because this capability is directed at the layer 2 edge, all existing security designs of the current networks can be independently used without the need to change the existing security platforms.
While the MINE Network model offers the efficient and interoperable use of existing networks, it also creates an entire new off net wireless edge networking capability not requiring Internet backhaul. This new network capability will offer on demand and Internet all the time wireless applications by adding a mini CPU to the network edge wireless radio. End user device to intelligent wireless radio applications offer a multitude of applications designed for localized wireless applications not requiring network backhaul. MICE Network security can be deployed even in wireless mesh environments allowing mobile network roaming without security or user access network interruption. These layer 2 mobile security capabilities will become even more important as more and more Internet all the time machine to machine applications become common place..
