A chilling reminder from Hurricane Katrina of our continued vulnerability in offering survivable wireless communication technologies before, during and after natural catastrophes.  Most coastal wireless networks in United States are still as vulnerable as they were during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and there existing commercial and emergency wireless networks will not survive the devastation of the next hurricane.
